How it Works
Patented Technology Converts Waste to Bedding
On a dairy farm, bedding expenses and waste management considerations are two significant factors. WasteSover reduces these distractions. And if you have a methane digester, WasteSolver delivers additional benefits.
The WasteSolver system can dramatically decrease bedding costs, lower waste management labor costs and can help you increase herd size and milk production without hitting regulatory nutrient effluent limits. WasteSolver accomplishes this through proprietary technology. Approximately 50% to 70% of suspended solids are captured, depending on dairy configurations. The natural, pasteurization type treatment used by WasteSolver is a low cost and environmentally friendly alternative to row compost. The natural WasteSolver treatment preserves nearly 100% of solids for bedding and excess may be sold to TyraTech, the manufacturer of WasteSolver.
In the first step, slurry is pumped into the hydro-cyclone where a vortex destroys weed seeds and separates solids from liquids. Liquid, including pathogens and dissolved salts, is returned either to the collection pit or lagoon. Solids flow to a screw press where additional moisture is extracted.
Dry-to-the-touch solids from the press move to step two: Inside the rotating drum, solids are tumbled and cleaned with naturally generated heat that reaches about 140 degrees for at least six hours. Solids are exposed to air during the tumbling process, which helps prevent creation of many harmful greenhouse gases that would result from row composting. Solids exit this natural, pasteurization type process within 24 hours.
The result is a uniform, comfortable bedding that is dry to the touch and completely free of offensive odor. The process also reduces pathogens, insects and weed seeds. TyraTech will contract to buy excess compost from the dairy, and remove it from the farm.
It's really not waste anymore. It is a valuable resource to your operation.
Methane Digesters: WasteSolver can improve the efficiency of most methane digesters. Depending on the type of digester used, WasteSolver can be placed either before or after the digester.
